public response to the investigation: "oceangate spent all this R&D time and money to come up with this really fancy alerting system for detecting hull fractures, and when it alerted them to hull fractures they ignored the alert and kept operating regardless? what was the point of building it if they were just going to ignore the alerts? who even does that?"

I regret to inform you that this is how basically every company's internal security operates. blow all the budget on the expensive shiny box that can ostensibly tell you when an attacker even farts in the vicinity of a server, then ignore all the logs.

@gsuberland alert fatigue is real. If you ever had to make an email filter for alerts, your alerting is not fit for purpose.

@jpm @gsuberland I am experiencing alert fatigue with netdata alerts and they ask me to pay if I want to turn off some alerts 😿
