Idk what the homelab subreddit is going on about, but I've had very few issues (that I didn't cause myself) virtualizing my firewall.

@izzy Probably same for me, considering I've done at least two major OpnSense upgrades since running it in a VM.

I didn't want to virtualize it until I was comfortable enough with networking and Proxmox. I'm more than familiar with Proxmox (and Linux in general at this point), so I really only have to worry about OpnSense (and FreeBSD) specific issues, really.

@izzy Survived two major PVE upgrades, too! I think I started out on PVE 7, and now all my stuff is on PVE 9

@maddy I survived pve upgrade too! But I have been running only one vm on my pve instance for a long time. It is time to migrate it to a physical machine.
