I guess the reason I don’t fit into most non-Japanese fast fashion is the same reason people complain they can’t fit into Muji / Uniqlo clothes. Everything else looks funny on me unless I get it tailored but off the shelf Muji and Uniqlo is mostly fine (expectations of default body shapes etc)

Not as obvious as when I was scuba diving and every scuba mask that wasn’t made in Japan was way too big for my nose (which is very flat), which was actually a life-threatening issue because using rental scuba masks flooded my mask nonstop, no matter what size or adjustments. Eventually I had to get my own.

This is very similar to how my nose works under water: youtu.be/s-33i2b17nc

Recently I was wondering why I really feel like I struggle a lot more with procuring clothes. It seems to cause me much more distress than in the past. I realize now that up until I came to the U.S., my body type was sort of the default many places

I could haphazardly pick up anything and look good (in Singapore / Malaysia / Thailand / Korea / Japan) but if I do that now I end up looking weird coz nothing fits me. I have to be much more intentional about it. I dislike it but that’s the cost of immigration I guess.

@skinnylatte I had to order online internationally from those who cloned Japanese clothes but made them in different sizes. Nothing fits me in store. The size might fit me here but the style does not
