This is pretty much my story too.

But it ended up being so frustrating that I lost interest in programming computers for about five years, until I was able to get my own, which I paid for using money I made from busking on the street as an accordionist. I am not joking.

@jonmsterling @joe I wrote Scheme, Haskell and Verilog code with pen and paper and reasoned about them in my mind
until I have guaranteed access to computers
